RSUPPORT's Financial Story
Today I came across an interesting article: Forced liquidation of Nikkei options without a margin call is also legal at the bottom. While looking into the details, I found an interesting fact. The entity that suffered the loss was Winners Asset Management, and an article said RSUPPORT, an IT company, was the de facto majority shareholder of that company.

However, some in the industry say RSUPPORT was not a mere investor but the real power behind Winners Asset Management. In other words, the actual management was done not by Winners Asset Management but by RSUPPORT.
RSUPPORT said it incurred total losses of 14.6 billion won from stock index option trading from last year to this year.
The strangest thing was why RSUPPORT, a listed company in the software business, held a stake in an asset management company. When I actually checked the financial statements, there was a 21.1 billion won loss from derivatives in 2020.

As a result, despite an operating profit of 18.4 billion won in 2020, the net income was a loss. Still, the cash flow coming into the company was steady. In particular, in 2021, when Japan's NTT Docomo participated as a strategic investor and bought a stake, performance in '21 was also very good.
| Unit: 100 million won | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PER | loss | 17.33 | 53.66 | 27.02 | 46.29 |
| PCR | 1,540.88 | 16.03 | 35.84 | 21.39 | 26.05 |
| PSR | 15.23 | 8.09 | 4.64 | 3.89 | 2.96 |
| PBR | 11.26 | 4.95 | 2.54 | 2.06 | 1.43 |
| EV/Sales | 15.23 | 8.09 | 4.64 | 3.90 | 2.96 |
| EV/EBITDA | 34.96 | 21.85 | 24.15 | 19.96 | 23.31 |
| Total Cash Flow | 264 | 233 | 77 | 85 | 48 |
| After-tax Operating Profit | 247 | 213 | 56 | 65 | 24 |
| Depreciation & Amortization | 17 | 20 | 21 | 19 | 24 |
| Total Investment | -8 | 142 | 116 | 245 | 204 |
| FCFF | 272 | 91 | -39 | -161 | -156 |
| Dividend Payout Ratio | - | 9% | 25% | 7% | 17% |
But the company's finances grew increasingly strange. As money piled up, PBR and cash rose, but the dividend payout ratio was very low except in '21, when it posted a surprise performance. In other words, the company kept hoarding cash. Nor was this an industry that needed to pile up cash due to heavy CAPEX spending, given the nature of the software business. It already had a solid position in the industry.

Another thing that stood out was the cash flow. As soon as money was earned, it kept flowing out through investing activities.
| Unit (100 million won) | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Increase in Tangible Assets | 64 | 97 | 248 | 208 |
| Increase in Bonds Payable | 37 | |||
| Increase in Borrowings | 100 | |||
| Retained Earnings (Deficit) | 440 | 461 | 523 | 549 |
Retained earnings kept growing, and tangible assets kept increasing. In 2024, even bonds payable and borrowings increased.
Accordingly, the company bought a 2,370㎡ (about 717 pyeong) site for 11.9 billion won through the Godeok Biz Valley land sale, and plans to invest 44.9 billion won in construction costs.
While RSUPPORT's real estate increased, the stock price plunged from a high of 23,650 won to 2,500 won on December 13 — a near 90% drop — before barely rebounding to the 3,000-won range. Moreover, financial costs increased due to the borrowings. I'm not sure whether it's right to invest in a company that, even when it earns money, invests in real estate and derivatives.

Terms Keep Emerging (Feat. MAGA, FANNG, M7, E8)
In every era, the market produces terms that group certain large-cap stocks together. In this recurring history, investors need to watch the pattern closely.
